TALISMAN
ENERGY FLIES VISITING MEDIA AROUND TUMBLER RIDGE
July 30, 2003
It was a hectic week for the Tumbler Ridge Museum Foundation.
With interest in the dinosaur excavation building, and
the project gathering momentum as enters its final week,
the provincial, national and international media came
to visit. First it was Knowledge Network, (filming for
BC Moments), then the Globe and Mail, and finally Discovery
Channel.
They were taken in turn to the dinosaur footprint field
sites and the excavation site, and to the exhibits on
display in the Community Centre. Thanks to the generosity
of Talisman Energy, they were all given in addition an
unforgettable event to add to their footage – a
helicopter ride over town and into the amphitheatre of
Bergeron Falls (the highest accessible falls in northern
BC) and into the spray of one of the world’s great
falls, Kinuseo.
In recognition of this wonderful donation, the District
of Tumbler Ridge made a presentation of a beautiful
framed photo collage by photographer Fraser Hounsell, including
a photo of the helicopter at the falls. The potential
benefits of this donation are enormous for this idyllic
community in its phenomenal rebound.
